Our Story

About Us

MUUS brings you authentic Yakutian knives from the master craftsmen of the Sakha Republic. Each blade is born in fire and carries thousands of years of tradition.

The Brand

What is MUUS

MUUS means “ice” in the Yakut (Sakha) language. Our name reflects the essence of the Yakutian knife — a tool born in one of the harshest regions on the planet.

We work directly with master craftsmen from the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) to bring you genuine handmade Yakutian knives. Each piece is not just a tool, but a work of art with a unique story.

Our motto: “Ice-born. Fire-forged.” — this is the story of every MUUS knife.

Heritage

The Yakut Knife

The Yakut knife is one of the most ancient tools to have survived virtually unchanged to the present day. Archaeological finds confirm that its form has remained the same for thousands of years.

The distinctive feature of the Yakut knife is its asymmetric blade with a characteristic groove (blood channel) on one side and a convex surface on the other. This shape has been refined over centuries for work in extreme cold conditions.

For the Yakut people, the knife is more than a tool. It is a symbol of craftsmanship, self-reliance, and connection with nature. Traditionally, a Yakut knife accompanies its owner throughout their entire life.

Craftsmen

Our Masters

We collaborate with over 70 master blacksmiths from the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). Each one carries centuries-old traditions of Yakutian blacksmithing.

Our masters use traditional hand-forging methods passed down through generations. Every blade is forged by hand, every handle carved from natural materials — birch burl, Karelian birch, elk or reindeer antler.

Thanks to handcrafted production, no two knives are alike — each piece is unique. We are proud to help the masters of Yakutia share their art with the world.

Guarantee

Quality

Every MUUS knife undergoes quality inspection before shipping. We personally evaluate the sharpness, balance, steel quality, and handle finish.

We use high-carbon steel and Damascus steel for the blades, ensuring exceptional sharpness and durability. Handles are crafted from natural materials: birch burl, Karelian birch, and elk antler.

We offer a 30-day guarantee on all products. If a knife does not meet your expectations, you can return or exchange it.
